Traversing the Jungles of Social Media: An Idea & Etiquette Field Guide for Small Businesses

What is it about promoting online via Social Media that makes a small business quake? The usual excuses are time, technology, and training - but is it something more? How do you build relationships with those you haven't, and might not ever, meet? Lessons and help desks won't ever answer the question addressed in this book - how to convert your past networking experience into positive and comfortable online interactions.

Let this book show you how to use your in-person networking skills to promote your fabulous products and services through Social Media without hesitation, blunder or excuse! Inside you will find: Post ideas for text, images and video Social Media etiquette lessons Helpful (and serious) what-not-to-do pointers Human explanations of how to get started and represent your business correctly Real-life examples designed for the non-technical Threats, humor and motivation for entrepreneurs just getting started the right way.

This book isn't a technical manual filled with screen shots and how-to advice. This book is a translator to help you identify and integrate into online media relationships by comparing them to "real life" situations. In here you will find visualizations, examples and etiquette lessons designed to transform how you look at social media - making it tangible and understandable.

Julianne DiBlasi Black

About the author:

After beginning her career in design, Julianne decided that it wasn't enough for her. With a passion for coaching her clients and business associates on how to market themselves, she focused on showing her clients how to promote themselves for free. Then, social media took the stage and became a great fit in her vision to educate others. She still loves to design, but she likes to focus on the client's brand as a whole, not just a business card design or individual flyer design.

Continuing her quest for helping people with their marketing and social media, Julianne has spoken for several small and large groups, all for small businesses. She has played a key role in several professional groups in Ventura: Ventura Chamber of Commerce, Heartlink Networks, Ventura County Professional Women's Network, LEADS Group of Ventura, Ventura Young Professionals' Group, and JCICI.

Julianne grew up in Andover, MA, but has lived in Ventura, CA, since 1999. She has a B.A. in Fine Art, a B.S. in Computer Animation, and an A.A. in Multimedia and Web Design. She is the owner of BlackFire Studios and the Creative Director and Social Media Strategist for Scratch Brands, Inc.
She lives with her wonderful husband Joshua and the greatest Great Dane ever, "Batman". In her spare time she enjoys fine art, graphic novels, writing and gardening.

As Julianne steps forth with her new book, Traversing the Jungles of Social Media: An Idea & Etiquette Field Guide for Small Businesses, she remembers the words of Bill Cosby, "In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure."
